Dylan Nagle

Principal Consultant

Dylan Nagle has over 15 years’ experience across Defence and defence industry, including executive roles in Defence Industry Policy, Defence Science and Technology, Austrade, government relations and operations management in industry.

Within the Department of Defence Dylan led the team developing Sovereign Industrial Capability Priorities, and as a starting member of the Australian Defence Export Office he led the Team Defence Australia program.

He has a PhD in materials science, and started his career as a research scientist at DST where he developed elastomeric materials for radar and sonar absorption for application on RAN and RAAF platforms. Transitioning into industry, Dylan moved from a technical role into operations management, responsible for the running of several manufacturing businesses across Melbourne that supplied into the automotive, mining and construction industries.

He returned to Defence with a role in industry policy, helping to deliver the Defence Industry Policy Statement and Defence Export Policy, leading teams in the Sovereign Industrial Capability Priorities and the Australian Defence Export office as Director Team Defence Australia. Following the successful transformation of the program into a world-leading facilitator of Australian defence exports, Dylan worked in Austrade with a short posting to South Korea and continuing to support defence industry onshore. Since contributing to Austrade’s mission, he has worked in government relations and advisory services.

He lives in Canberra and is married to MJ, with 2 children.
